The Fool 03:27
Darkening demeanors mark the smart men’s crooked smiles • As they wait their turn • Dissecting not the words, but the man before their eyes • They wait their turn • They wait their turn • He knew with all his heart and soul and cried out in his mind • “I’m not wasting their time!” The wait to condescend finally comes to an end • As the man sits down • They may have missed the speech, but they hit the man directly • As the man sits down • The man sits down • He knew with all his heart and soul and cried out in his mind • “I’m not wasting their time!” • And then he whispered softly with the light still in his eyes • “What a perfect fool am I” And he waits • And he waits • And he waits It turns out unseen forces had the power over death and life • As the man believed • But believin’ is too hard for those who must see with their eyes • The man believed • The man believed

The Year 04:30
They met in the winter of the year of the great snowstorm • His beard was full, and the curls in her hair were long • They built a fire, and watched the snow fall • She was sippin’ tea • He was sippin’ coffee • And they sang “It’s gonna be a good year” They headed out west in the spring of the great sandstorm • His face was shaved, and the color in her eyes was blue • They built a home, and watched the wheat grow • She was knittin’ sweaters • He was splittin’ wood • And they sang, “It’s gonna be a good year” Baby, it’s gonna be a good year • Oh my honey • Oh my dear • I ain’t got nothin’ to fear • ‘Cause baby, it’s gonna be a good year They struck it rich in the summer of the great gold rush • His face was tan, and the soles in her shoes were worn • They built a town, and watched the settlers roll in • She danced around • He played a sweet song • And they sang, “It’s gonna be a good year” Baby, it’s gonna be a good year • Oh my honey • Oh my dear • I ain’t got nothin’ to fear • ‘Cause baby, it’s gonna be a good year They lost it all in the fall of the great stock crash • His face was hard, and the dress that she wore was torn • They built a wagon, and headed back east • She was patchin’ up her dress • He was patchin’ up his pride • And he looked at her with a twinkle in his eye • And sang, “Next year is gonna be a good year” Baby, it’s gonna be a good year • Oh my honey • Oh my dear • I ain’t got nothin’ to fear • ‘Cause baby, it’s gonna be a good year

The quiet man sat smoking in the shade • The long shadow cast by fate kept everyone else away • The quiet man gave up the future he had planned • With no one to hold his hand, he would become his own man, a great man What’s the point? • He never understood • In this world, there is no meaning • What he got never got him anywhere • Just left alone, chasing the wind Finally, he turned the people’s heads • He had figured out the bomb • It made him a well-known man • Suddenly, some people said he was an angel • Others said he was a devil • He was just a quiet man What’s the point? • He never understood • In this world, there is no meaning • What he got never got him anywhere • Just left alone chasing the wind So the bomb was dropped • Children’s shadows were etched upon the walls • He never thought that history would echo out his name What’s the point? • He never understood • In this world, there is no meaning • What he got never got him anywhere • Just left alone chasing the wind

Dymaxion 03:10
Buckminster Fuller was a man full of desire • A dreamer and inventor • His brain and heart on fire • On the road to Chicago in his Dymaxion It could transport eleven at ninety miles per hour • Thirty miles to the gallon • Tear dropped with V8 power • On the road to Chicago in his Dymaxion • To the World’s Fair in Chicago in his Dymaxion He spent a lot of money • A great vision he had in mind • To change our way of thinking • A better life for all mankind • On the road to Chicago in his Dymaxion • To the World’s Fair in Chicago in his Dymaxion But alas, the car rolled over • Two survived, but the driver died • The investors pulled their funding • So goes the shifting tide • On the road to Chicago in his Dymaxion • To the World’s Fair in Chicago in his Dymaxion • On the road to Chicago in his Dymaxion

Well Chris, he was looking for a new life he could live • So he built a boat and headed to the West • With his pockets full of nothing and his head all full of dreams • Nobody could have stopped him as he drove into the sea And with a mighty roar the ocean yelled, “Are you ready boy?” • And chris replied, “Is that the best that you can do?” • So for forty days and forty nights, Chris was battered to and fro • Till finally the tiny ship couldn’t stand the heavy blows So overboard the captain went into the deep below • Where a mighty fish swallowed him and then spat him out on the shore • “Is this my new world?” Chris exclaimed with some surprise • For a city grew before him and behind him loomed grey skies I was hoping for some mountains, a forest and a stream • But all I’ve got is concrete and a world of broken dreams • Then chris realized something we all should come to know • Sometimes what you got is the best thing that there is

about

All of the songs have a cohesive message... "The City of Promise” is where the album leads you (although, it’s not the happy place you might imagine). In addition, it’s both the end and the beginning of a journey, setting us up for another album in the future.

This album was self-funded and self-released. Proceeds go directly to the artist.
